Basses are awesome. As Baykuh said, basses can Rumble, Growl, Smack, Pop and Thump. you can get such a variety of sound out of them. Whareas a electric guitar, all you can do is whammie and make the guitar squeal like Justin Bieber running away from his puberty.

Seriously, playing the bass takes as much skill as playing the guitar. That's all I'm trying to say. I'm not saying it's better or worse, that's just a matter of personal preference.

and just to counter you're aforementioned argument, we can get all different tones and sounds out of our bass WITHOUT the use of all those distortion and effect pedals. we don't have to rely on all those effects to get variety. You get a good all rounder Bass and you can get soo much sound variety with it, whereas with guitar it seems you have to just about buy a different guitar for each genre that you play.

I take it you're referring to the tone and volume knobs and the 5 way switch, which guitars ALSO have. And we don't need different guitars for different genres, we just WANT them. You can play all styles with a simple amp and guitar. You can also do that with bass, but only because it always sounds the same.
